Whew, Anna and I have had a busy morning!! But very fun! Sorry for the posting delay
We got up and promptly hit the gym. (Yes, Anna wanted to go - I didn’t drag her there!!) I did 40 minutes on the Stairs followed by a bit of running and we called it a wrap.
After glamming up with showers, I made her a batch of Double Banana Coconut Almond Butter Whipped Oats. Like many of my house guests have commented, she LOVED it
I hope I’ve sold her on making oats on the stove-top, as she admits she usually uses packets.
Each portion had:
1/3 cup oats, 2% milk, water
1 small banana
Pinch salt + vanilla
1 tbsp flax
1/4 leftover Quaker True Delights Coconut Macadamia Banana granola bar
1 tsp coconut butter
Spoonful Barney Butter
Mmmm mmmm chandelier coffee!
After breakfast we took a field trip to Great Harvest to visit the husband!
BREAD!!!!!
The master mixer -
The sample board -
Despite just having had breakfast, who could resist these!?!?! I had 2 mini pie samples, 2 bread samples and 3 cookie/muffin samples. I think I have now tried about half of their products. Not sure what’s in store for lunch since it’s noon and we’ve just finished breakfast #1 and breakfast #2. Maybe I’ll just have a salad mid-afternoon and then carry on to dinner?
I also got to meet the Charlotte Great Harvest owners, Jeff and Janet. They both have nutrition and food science degrees and it was a pleasure to talk to them. They’re a wealth of information on whole grains! For example, did you know that whole wheat is FULL of antioxidants, which are also very bioavailable because they are carried into the gut and more easily distributed into the blood stream than other forms of antioxidants?
I am off to play with Anna and the husband for a bit and then am heading uptown to a coffee shop to study for 2 solid hours before I take my exam tonight.
Hope you guys are having fun Thursdays!

We have a shortage of good , great British restaurants. There has been so much press lately about how crap British food really is, but you know I wonder, is it really that bad? Everybody has heard about a certain Jamie ranting about how food[...]http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/londoneater/~3...

I'm teaching a Holiday Cookie Baking Class this Saturday (tomorrow) and when I told my brother how nervous I was, after I questioned my reasoning in volunteering myself, these were his words of support. "Its ok just look them in the eyes. . it[...]http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/DelightfulDeli...

A Great Appetizer!
Added 07/10/2008 23:57:00
One of our favorite dips. We've had this recipe for about 8 years and make it a LOT each year. IMHO the more jalapenos - the better. I never add the green onions because of how SPICY it gets, but my sister puts it in when she makes it. Hope you[...]http://priscillabakes.blogspot.com/2008/10/gr...

One of the things I love most about fall is pumpkin -- pie, bread, cookies, I just love it, in any form (let's face it -- sometimes I can't even wait for fall ). The other day I found a yummy-looking recipe on the Better Homes & Gardens web[...]http://cookiepiebklyn.blogspot.com/2008/10/2-...
