One of my favorite grain breakfasts is cream of rye. If you haven’t tried it, you should. It offers a slightly different texture to oatmeal, maybe a bit courser? I make it as follows: 1/3c cream of rye, 2/3c water(you might want more to obtain your fav. consistency), 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tbsp craisins, 1 tbsp canned pumpkin (’tis the season) : bring to a boil, then let simmer for about 15 min. I usually put it on when I am getting Shane’s breakfast ready and my protein drink. When it boils I turn it to simmer and go up stairs to shower. By the time I come back down it’s ready. I also have a protein drink when I have grains and fruit in the morning. I use 1 scoop of whey protein + 3 oz of fresh raspberries, lots of ice and about 12 oz water in a blender. Note the 4 sliced stawberries added to the rye cereal. All that keeps me going until about 9:30am when I need a cup of coffee. Then 10:30 I need a morning snack. This morning it was an apple plus 1 tbs nat.more p-nut butter and 1 tbs bettern butter.
Since the paper was late (grrrr), it’s off to work! Have a super day!
