Yes, a Part III.
Why do I keep overeating!?!? I definitely have “Free Food Syndrome” = can’t stop eating when it’s put in front of me! At least I have the biking to balance it out
This afternoon I had a lovely piece of Great Harvest Cinnamon Chip bread with PB + J, plus an end piece of our newest loaf: Flax Oat Bran. Mmmm!! It’s a lot like Kath’s Breakfast Bread that the husband invented earlier this year.
After some school work I hopped on my bike and headed up to EarthFare. I accidentally took the long way, which took me about 35 minutes instead of 30ish.
I whirled around the sample stations on the way to the cafe. I had a BANANA bite covered in flax seed and a sample of this awesome aged gouda -
And maybe one more thing that I can’t remember??
Chef Husband did a great job with his demo!! There wasn’t a huge crowd, but that meant more samples for those of us who did show up
We started with some edamame -
Followed by 2 slices BBQ Baked Tofu (my recipe stolen from Gliding Calm!!). He used this recipe but used EarthFare’s BBQ Sauce (and slightly over-charred it!)
Plus a huge side of sesame kale. It’s raw in a sauce of sesame oil, tamari, ginger and other spices. SO GOOD. Not low-calorie though due to the oils.
And more…
And more!!
And more…
And then the star: Easy Peanut Butter Pie! It was quite good and very easy to make. I would say it tasted like soy milk and peanut butter. I actually kind of pigged out on the batter used in the demo at the end, which tasted like a peanut butter smoothie!!! (Sorry, it was unphotogenic.) Maybe I should make my own tofu-peanut butter smoothie soon….hmmmm…..
While I didn’t feel like I was eating that much, some quick math tells me I overdid it - esp. with the pie batter on top! But that’s Ok. Everything I ate was healthy.
The lovely AnneP should be safe and sound in Prague by now, where she’s going to be teaching English. Before she crossed the ocean, she sent me a package of Kashi coupons for $1 off cereal and crackers!!!!!! Noting on Sunday that EarthFare had Kashi on sale for $2.99, I went back tonight with my coupons and got 2 new ones to try!!
Plus I got a new tea on sale -
And 2 new bulk bin surprises. I’m having one for breakfast tomorrow
My poor other half has been up all night working his two shifts, so I’m going to tuck him into bed before I do some nutrition reading.
G’night!
OH YEAH - and remember how mad I was when I realized that I had Micro lab this week? Well I found out this afternoon that BOTH - I repeat - BOTH of my Thursday nutrition classes are canceled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That means a whole extra day of Fall Break!!! Sweeeeeeet!
