My mom is definitely one for tradition, and therefore, her Apple Pie recipe comes from this cookbook. 



 



Each year she makes the pie and has a list of things wrong with it: overcooked, crust burnt, crust mushy, too tart, not cooked enough, mushy apples, etc. Every year, however, I’ve never heard one person say anything but wonderful things about the pie. Truth is, if I ever make an apple pie, I’ll probably use this recipe, too. 


 



 


This year she used Granny Smith and Cortland apples. She said the result was a bit too tart and will go back to all Cortland next year.
